KUALA LAMPUR, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's ambassador to Cambodia Dhirar
Nasser Al-Tuwaijri attended a launch ceremony for a charity project in a
village in Cambodia's southern Takeo province, funded and carried out by
Kuwait's Social Reform Society in partnership with the local charity,
Al-Baraka.
The project includes the construction of six schools, four houses and
development projects, the purchase of three fishing boats and the sponsorship
of 20 orphans and 10 university students, Al-Tuwaijri told KUNA on Monday.
Five regions in the province have been targetted for the project, he added.
The event was held in the attendance of Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister
Sok An, Takeo governor Tri Ben and the Kuwaiti embassy's Third Secretary
Abdullah Al-Muhanna and Diplomatic Attache Hussein Al Shammari, in addition to
other officials.
At his speech during the ceremony, Al-Tuwaijri also praised the
charitable and humanitarian projects carried out by the Cambodian Al-Baraka
charitable society since its founding in 2007 of an estimated USD 6.35 million.
He also stressed the importance of developing and raising the standard of
living and education for the people in villages and rural areas across
Cambodia.
For his part, Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister praised the Kuwaiti charity
projects in Cambodia, and express his and his government's appreciation of
these efforts, that strengthen relations between the two countries. (end)
