Key terror suspect held in India

NEW DELHI, Sept 13 (KUNA) -- Indian security forces arrested a key terror suspect, Mehrajuddin Dand alias Javed, who is reportedly to have terror links across India and Pakistan, reported the Press Trust of India (PTI).
He is also said to be the key man behind a plane hijacked in India in 1999. He was also involved in several bomb blasts across the country.
Being described as the "biggest catch" in 25 years by Indian security agencies, Mehrajuddin was arrested in northern state of Jammu and Kashmir. He reportedly provided logistical support for the hijacking of Indian Airlines' plane 'IC-814' in 1999. The hijackers had taken the plane to Kandahar (in Afghanistan). The hijack-drama had continued for eight days and ended with the release of three terrorists by the Indian government.
According to the report, Mehrajuddin has been an active terrorist since 1993, after having arms training in terror-training camps in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in 1987. According to sources, Mehrajuddin had recently returned to Jammu and Kashmir due to illness. (end) py.asa KUNA 131007 Sep 12NNNN
