GAZA, June 16 (KUNA) -- Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian
fishermen fishing off the northern shores of Gaza on Saturday, security
sources said.
The sources told KUNA scores of fishing boats in the marine Al-Sudania area
were fired upon from automatic guns, mounted on the cruising Israeli vessels.
None of the fishermen was hurt in the attack, but the fishermen had to sail
back to the beach.
The Israeli Navy often targets and scares off Palestinian fishermen seeking
to earn their bread in the sea waters off the strip. Tel Aviv enforces a
three-mile-wide zone for fishing by the Palestinians in the region. (end)
