DOHA, June 2 (KUNA) -- The Arab League Coucnil of foreign ministers called
Saturday on administrations of Arab satellite channel (Arabsat) and Egyptian
satellite channel (Nilesat) to stop broadcasting government and non-government
Syrian channels.
The Council, at the end of its extraordinary meeting in the Qatari capital,
said in a statement the UN Human Rights Council's (HRC) fact-finding
commission should be allowed to investigate the Houla massacre in which 108
people were killed, in order to prosecute perpetrators.
The foreign ministers urged the Syrian government to cease security
measures in order to cease fire, allow freedom of peaceful protest and
implement reforms.
They urged UN Security Council (UNSC) to protect Syrian civilians and stop
bloodshed in the troubled Arab country.
They called upon the Syrian opposition groups to unite and meet as soon as
possible to coordinate with Arab and international bodies over their political
action.
They urged the Syrian government to allow entry of humanitarian aid.
The Arab League Council condemned the massacre in the Syrian town of Houla
in which over 100 people were killed, including scores of children.
It also condemndd pro-government militiamen's targeting of civilians. (end)
