TUNIS, May 10 (KUNA) -- Tunisia said Thursday it resumed contact with the
state-owned Qatar Petroleum, over the latter's USD 2 billion investment in
Skhira refinery, south east of Tunisia.
Tunisian Industry Minister Mohamed Lamine Chakhari said in a statement that
his government is expecting a delegation next week in Tunis, to finalize the
agreement on the refinery, worth 3 billion Tunisian dinars.
"Works for this project, which is expected to generate about 1,200 jobs,
will be started by the end of the present year," said the minister.
The refinery will increase the production of the refinery from 120,000
barrels per day to 250,000 bpd, which is said to be earmarked for the domestic
market provide, and is expected to be operational by around 2014-15. (end)
