BAGHDAD, April 17 (KUNA) -- Al-Najaf International Airport on Tuesday
received a flight of Jazeera Airways, the first trip by a Kuwaiti aircraft
company to Iraq in more than 20 years.
The Jazeera Airways plane landed in the airport amid huge official and
media presence, carrying on its board Kuwait Ambassador to Iraqi Ali Al-Mo'men
along with Iraqi Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Bahr Al-Oloum, as well as 157
passengers.
The Kuwaiti plane was received by an official Iraqi delegation, headed by
Fayed Al-Shammari, head of the Najaf provincial council, as well as number of
members of the Najaf provincial council and Diwan.
In the same context, privately-owned Jazeera Airways plans to make two
trips weekly to Al-Najaf airport, in hope of increasing the number of flights
in the future.
The flight came after Iraqi Airways settled its debts to Kuwait during the
last visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki and Iraqi Minister of
Transportation Hadi Al-Amri to Kuwait last month. (end)
