ALGIERS, March 30 (KUNA) -- Ministry of Interior announced that more than 2,
000 lists of candidates for May 10th legislative elections have been submitted.
Ministry of Interior confirmed in a statement, that 2,053 lists were
registered for the legislative elections by March 26th, the deadline of
candidates lists' submission.
The source stated that 1,842 lists of 44 political parties among them 21
new parties have been approved on January, where 211 lists of independent
candidates also submitted their candidancies.
The total number of candidates to fill the 462 seats in parliament reached
25,800 candidates including 7,646 females, in other words 69.82 percent male
candidates facing 30.18 percent females.
Those in charge are to examine the lists of candidates until April 10, as
for rejected lists can appeal before the Administrative Court before April 14,
where the election campaign will begin one day later. (end)
