BAGHDAD, March 23 (KUNA) -- All necessary security precuations have been
taken in preparation for upcoming Arab summit due to be hosted by Baghdad in
the end of this month, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Friday.
As a result of the tight security measures, terrorists could no longer
carry out attacks in and in the center of the capital, and had to shift arena
of their operations to other areas and provinces, said the ministry in a
statement.
The ministry, which has blocked all roads leading to the "green zone,"
venue of the summit, has assured participating officials, figures and
journalists that they would be accorded with maximum security during their
presence in the country.
Security was beefed up through the city, with more patrols and security
checkpoints. (end)
