BAGHDAD, March 23 (KUNA) -- All necessary security precuations have been taken in preparation for upcoming Arab summit due to be hosted by Baghdad in the end of this month, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Friday.
As a result of the tight security measures, terrorists could no longer carry out attacks in and in the center of the capital, and had to shift arena of their operations to other areas and provinces, said the ministry in a statement.
The ministry, which has blocked all roads leading to the "green zone," venue of the summit, has assured participating officials, figures and journalists that they would be accorded with maximum security during their presence in the country.
Security was beefed up through the city, with more patrols and security checkpoints. (end) mhg.rk KUNA 231327 Mar 12NNNN
