ISLAMABAD, March 2 (KUNA) -- At least seven soldiers and more than ten
militants were killed in latest clashes between the two sides on Friday in
Pakistans bordering tribal agency, said reports.
The clashes took place early morning in Tirah valley of Khyber tribal
agency. According to media reports, clashes broke out after militants attacked
a security forces checkpost. The attack killed at least seven soldiers and
wounded eight others.
The local media reports, citing security sources, said that the forces
launched a retaliatory operation and that a serious exchange of fire took
place between the two sides. The reports added that more than ten militants
were killed and several others were wounded in the retaliatory operation.
Also, prior to the incident, a remote controlled bomb attack killed two
local peace committee members and wounded two others. According to details,
the committee members vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the valley that killed
two members and wounded two others. (end)
