Arab League determined to hold next summit in Baghdad

CAIRO, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League, Ambassador Ahmad bin Hilli asserted Sunday on the League's commitment to implement decisions made by leaders of the Arab 23rd summit in Sert, Libya, which called for holding the next summit in Baghdad, Iraq.
Bin Hilli, at the same time, is dispatching a delegation from the league to Iraq tomorrow.
After an emergency meeting on Somalia by the League's permanent members, Bin Hilli said in a press conference, that the League was committed to such decisions, adding that "Iraq has been fully prepared to host such summit since last year, but due to current developments in the region, the meeting was postponed to this year." Bin Hilli had already travelled to Iraq and was briefed on the preparations for the summit, to be by Baghdad late next month.
The new Arab League team, which will travel to Iraq tomorrow, will be headed by Assistant Secretary General Samir Saif, Bin Hilli noted, adding that the new team will complete the final touches prior to the summit. (end) mfm.mb KUNA 192024 Feb 12NNNN
