ISTANBUL, Feb 4 (KUNA) -- A Turkish ship carrying medical aid for people in
Gaza has arrived at Ashdod Port in Israel, Turkish Deputy Premier Bekir Bozdag
confirmed Saturday.
Bozdag was quoted by Turkish daily, Zaman, that innocent civilians not only
die by shelling but can be killed by the strict siege they are being held
under, which prevents the entry of food, medicine and other basic needs.
He said his country had presented a request to the Israeli Defence
Ministry, to allow safe passage for the aid ship in October last year.
The ship carries aid worth USD 1.5 million to the Gazans, who have been
besieged since 2006. (end)
