ISLAMABAD, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- An outlawed Taliban militant group Wednesday
claimed responsibility for killing a tribal journalist and said that he was
killed for anti-Taliban reporting.
Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a statement to media claimed that it
killed Mukarram Khan Aatif on Tuesday for his anti-Taliban reporting.
Unknown gunmen Tuesday shot dead Atif in his hometown of Shabqadar while he
was coming out of a mosque after offering the afternoon prayer. He originally
belonged to Mohmand tribal agency.
Aatif, 43-year old, was working for Voice of America (VoA)'s Pashto
language radio service in Peshawar and also he was the correspondent of a
local leading Urdu news channel "Dunya News".
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the killing and

terrorism and such cowardly acts would not deter the people from defeating the
