Pope Francis condemns terror attack on mosque in Egypt

VATICAN CITY, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City has strongly condemned the "terrorist brutal" attack, which targeted worshipers at a mosque in Al-Rawda village, west of Al-Arish, in North Sinai, earlier Friday.
He offered his condolences to the families of the victims and the Egyptian people.
In a cable sent by Vatican secretary of state Cardinal Pietro Parolin to the Egyptian authorities, Pope Francis expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of large numbers of lives due to the "terrorist" attack on the mosque.
He also voiced his firm condemnation of this "barbarous act" against innocent civilians during Friday prayer, killing 235 people and injuring 109 others. (end) mn.hm
