RABAT, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has praised UN Secretary-General's recent call to end anti-Muslim discrimination and hatred.
It is important that the UN adopts a binding international law to enforce the resolution of the General Assembly 224/65 on "Combating Defamation of Religions", Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Twaijri, ISESCO Director General, said in a statement Wednesday.
Such law would prohibit the vilification of religions and counter anti-Muslim discrimination and hatred in accordance with the internationally recognized human rights, Al-Twaijri added.
The UN's new Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has made his call on Tuesday while addressing participants of the High-level Forum on combating anti-Muslim discrimination, held at ECOSOC Chamber of the UN Conference Building, in New York, USA.
In his message, Guterres warned against the rise in anti-Muslim hate crimes and called for standing up against bigotry and racial discrimination, while quoting a verse from the Holy Quran. (end)
