LONDON, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said on Thursday that the 10-year sentencing by the Iranian authorities against a British couple on espionage charges was "appalling" and "unjustifiable", vowing that her government would do all it can to secure their release.
In a statement cited by several media outlets, Cooper said, that the verdict was "completely appalling and totally unjustifiable" adding, "We will pursue this case relentlessly with the Iranian government until we see Craig and Lindsay Foreman safely returned to the UK and reunited with their family".
"In the meantime, their welfare is our priority and we will continue to provide consular assistance to them and their families," she added.
British couple Craig and Lindsay Foreman were on a "round-the-world motorcycle" trip since 2024 before being arrested in Iran back in January 2025. (end) gta.bb
