EU missions in Ramallah condemns Israeli occupation's raid on UNRWA premises

GAZA, Dec 9 (KUNA) - The European Union missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah condemned on Tuesday Israeli occupation forces' raid on the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem.
In a joint press statement, the missions said that such actions set a dangerous precedent of complete disregard for international law, including the Geneva Conventions.
They added that the Israeli raid on UNRWA headquarters in East Jerusalem, which resulted in the confiscation of property, the disruption of communications, and the replacement of the UN flag with the Israeli flag, "constitutes a flagrant violation of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations." They called on Israel to fulfill its obligations under the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations, which guarantees the inviolability of UN premises and prohibits their violation.
The statement was signed by missions of France, Germany, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Greece, Cyprus, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain.
UNRWA condemned yesterday's raid by Israeli occupation forces on its headquarters in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem, after trucks and cranes entered the compound, communications were cut off, and staff were evacuated. (end) wab.ibi
