Al-Mutairi: Kuwait's hosting of UAE World Falconry Cup shows deep-rooted heritage

KUWAIT, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's hosting of the UAE World Falcon Racing Cup embodies the strength of GCC cultural heritage and affirms the key role of parents and grandfathers' sports, Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdurrahman Al-Mutairi said on Wednesday.
Delivering a speech on the inauguration of the first edition of this cup to kick off on Thursday, tomorrow, Al-Mutairi added this event is an honorable station in the history of Kuwait's cultural and sports path.
Hosting the event in Kuwait shows deep-rooted brotherhood bonds between Kuwait and the UAE, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and UAE's President Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the minister noted.
Kuwait's organizing committed worked, in cooperation with the UAE and international falcon federations, on providing high levels of readiness and harnessing all potential to ensure organizing a championship in a manner that aligns with its global status, he said.
Hosting heritage and sports events enhances Gulf common cooperation paths and initiatives, and expands participation in events concerned with Gulf identity and cultural heritage in all domains, he elaborated.
He stressed the importance of this cup, out of a new launch of a promising path of sports collaboration and heritage between Kuwait and the UAE.
Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the International Federation for Falconry Sports and Racing Rashed bin Markhan said Kuwait's hosting of this exceptional event shows the spirit of deep-rooted brotherhood between the two sides and affirms outstanding their bilateral partnership.
It is not merly a falcon sport but it is an added cultural and heritage value bringing together Gulf children and boosts their leading presence, he noted.
He thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for hosting this event, commending the key role of minister Al-Mutairi.
Hostingt the first edition of this cup in Kuwait comes in line with the directives of UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Court Chief Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the President of the International Federation for Falconry Sports and Racing, and President of the UAE Falcons Federation Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support falcon racing, he said.
The tourney will kick off on Thursday, tomorrow, and run until December 7, with total prizes worth KD 40,000. (end) hms.kda.hm
