Kuwait Assistant FM talks to Lebanese officials about cooperation on human rights

BEIRUT, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs and Chairperson of the National Committee for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution (1325), Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, met on Thursday officials of the Lebanese Foreign Ministry discussing means of enhancing mutual cooperation concerning women and human rights affairs.
The meetings took place on the sidelines of Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher's participation in the 12th session of the Women on the Front Lines conference, organized by the May Chidiac Foundation in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
Sheikha Jawaher held discussions with Ambassador Abdelsattar Issa, Secretary General of the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, affirming necessity of increasing effective participation in international events related to human rights, women issues, peace and security.
Ambassador Issa for his part lauded the State of Kuwait's support for human rights, boosting stability and development in the region, as well as its backing for justice and equality.
The Kuwaiti assistant foreign minister held separate talks with the director of international organizations at the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Salim Baddoura, on identical topics and human rights agenda.
She explored role of the national committee for implementation of the Security Council resolution 1325 titled "woman, peace and security," and her support for woman participation in peace efforts as well as boosting cooperation in human rights files.
Both sides affirmed the continuous coordination for promoting the woman role and human rights at the regional and international levels.
Sheikha Jawaher was accompanied during her meetings with the local officials by the Charge D'affaires of the State of Kuwait Embassy, Counsellor Abdulaziz Al-Dalah, and the Diplomatic Attache at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zeinab Al-Mansouri. (pickup previous_ fz.rk
