Kuwait reaffirms intl. coop. for asset recovery

JEDDAH, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Attorney General Counselor Dr. Omar Al-Masoud reaffirmed the importance of activating frameworks of international cooperation for the purpose of asset recovery.
Al-Masoud made this statement on Thursday on the sidelines of the first annual general meeting of the Regional Asset Recovery Network in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA-ARIN), held in Jeddah and concluding today.
Kuwait has affirmed the importance of having a guiding manual that outlines the nature of assets and how each type can be recovered, with regard to cooperation requests through the MENA-ARIN network, Al-Masoud said.
Kuwait has also emphasized the importance of having designated contact points within the network., he added. The meeting marks a turning point in the regional and international efforts to combat corruption, as it represents the official launch of the new regional network, which has chosen the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the headquarters of its permanent secretariat.
