ABU DHABI, Sept 16 (KUNA) - The Kuwaiti National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), inaugurated on Tuesday the Kuwaiti Cultural Days in the UAE as part of Kuwait's celebration of its designation as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media in 2025.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kuwait's ambassador to the UAE Jamal Al-Ghunaim said that this cultural event deepens the strong fraternal bonds between the two countries and their peoples.
Al-Ghunaim added that Kuwaiti-Emirati relations are historic and distinguished, have been witnessing fruitful partnerships in various domains as a result of the wise vision of the leaders of the two brotherly countries.
Culture is a mirror of peoples and a bridge for nations to come together, he said, noting that these cultural days allow the public in the UAE to learn more about various aspects of the Kuwaiti culture.
Al-Ghunaim pointed out that declaring Kuwait as the capital of Arab culture and media for 2025 reflects its leading role in enriching Arab cultural and media activities.
He re-affirmed the commitment of Kuwait's long-standing cultural institutions to continuing this role.
He added that the cultural journey in Kuwait and the UAE embodies the two countries' leadership keenness on supporting culture and arts at the Gulf and Arab levels.
"Kuwait founded a prominent theatrical and literary movement early on, while the UAE embraced major endeavors for knowledge and creativity promotion and has today become a global destination for culture and thought," he boasted. Ambassador Al-Ghunaim emphasized that these cultural days will be a shining milestone in the distinguished brotherly relations between Kuwait and the UAE.
For his part, UAE Deputy Minister of Culture Mubarak Al-Nakhi said, in his speech, that this cultural initiative represents an open space for art and identity and reflects the depth of the long-standing relations between the two Arabian Gulf countries.
Al-Nakhi said that Kuwait's designation as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media for 2025 is a well-deserved recognition of its historical role in the development and assimilation of the Arab culture through its pioneering institutions and its intellectual and creative output.
He unveiled that the Kuwaiti Cultural Days features art exhibitions, folk performances, musical evenings, and intellectual seminars.
These activities highlight the authentic and modern features of Kuwaiti identity and shed light on the deep cultural ties between the two countries, he elaborated.
He affirmed that this event gives the public, especially young people, the opportunity to interact directly with Kuwaiti cultural production and open up to its experiences.
Al-Nakhi emphasized that the Emirati-Kuwaiti relationship is rooted in history, firmly established in the consciousness of both peoples and is based on a wise political will that believes that the present and future of the nation begins with investment in people, their ideas, identity, and values. He wished the Kuwaiti Cultural Days every success and hoped that they would be an effective platform for the exchange of creativity, the consolidation of civilized dialogue, and the strengthening of ties between the two brotherly countries.
He expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Al-Ghunaim, and the Kuwaiti embassy staff, as well as the NCCAL, for their fruitful cooperation and efforts in making this cultural event a success.
In his turn, the head of the Kuwaiti delegation, Assistant Secretary General of the NCCAL for Administrative and Financial Affairs Saad Al-Enezi, said that the Kuwaiti Cultural Days in the Emirati capital will continue until next Thursday.
He underlined that Kuwait and the UAE have long been linked by strong fraternal ties, reinforced by kinship, a common language and religion, and shared interests.
These relations are not limited to the political sphere, but extend to various social, economic, and cultural fields, making them a model for Gulf and Arab cooperation, as reflected in these cultural days, he indicated.
He said that celebrating Kuwaiti cultural heritage in the UAE is a celebration of a shared success story in supporting cultural movement, exchanging experiences, and enriching the artistic and literary scenes.
He pointed out that the past years have witnessed continuous cooperation between cultural institutions in Kuwait and the UAE, such as the organization of cultural weeks, the exchange of visits of musical bands and theatrical troupes, joint exhibitions, and intellectual and literary forums.
He considered Kuwaiti Cultural Days in the UAE as an addition to a series of fruitful partnerships aimed at promoting cultural exchange and the transfer of experiences and creativity among youth, intellectuals, and artists. These events also provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about Kuwait's rich heritage and its authentic values and artistic and creative practices that reflect the Gulf and Arab identity, he said.
