EU: Agreement with Israeli occupation expands "humanitarian access" to Gaza"

BRUSSELS, July 10 (KUNA) -- The European Union announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement with the Israeli occupation aimed at expanding "humanitarian access" to the Gaza Strip.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said in a post on X, "Today, we reached an agreement with Israel to expand humanitarian access to Gaza." She explained that the deal includes "more crossings open, aid and food trucks entering Gaza, repair of vital infrastructure and protection of aid workers." Kallas emphasized that the EU expects Israel to implement every measure agreed". The announcement comes ahead of a scheduled meeting of EU foreign ministers next week, during which they are expected to discuss the possible suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, amid what the Union considers violations of the agreement's human rights clause.
Spain, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands have all called for the suspension of the agreement. (end) arn.sas
