Kuwait's Permanent Representative to UN Ambassador and other international organizations in Geneva Nasser Al-Hayen
GENEVA, July 9 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait reaffirmed on Wednesday its commitment in protection creativity and innovation across commercial and industrial sectors, emphasizing the need for a balanced global intellectual property (IP) system that fosters innovation and sustainable development.
In a statement during the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) General Assembly, Kuwait's Permanent Representative to UN Ambassador and other international organizations in Geneva Nasser Al-Hayen, highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen technical cooperation with WIPO and underscored the organization's vital role in supporting national development, enhancing institutional capacities, and advancing IP systems aligned with Kuwait's goals.
The ambassador also emphasized Kuwait's dedication to supporting creators and inventors, while promoting public awareness of the economic and social benefits of intellectual property rights.
Kuwait is scheduled to host the 15th International Exhibition of Inventions in the Middle East in February 2025. The previous event showcased 230 inventions from over 180 inventors representing 42 countries and received strong support from national and international institutions.
In addition, Kuwait celebrated World Intellectual Property Day in April 2025 by organizing a national forum for intellectual property offices, facilitating dialogue and the exchange of expertise.
Ambassador Al-Hayen praised the adoption of the Riyadh Treaty on Industrial Design Law, calling it a landmark achievement that simplifies global protection of industrial designs.
He commended WIPO's role in providing technical assistance and capacity-building and expressed Kuwait's appreciation for its programs that enhance the efficiency of national intellectual property offices. (end)
