TEHRAN, June 29 (KUNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Sunday, to hold the United States and Israel accountable for their recent acts of aggression against Iran.
In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Araqchi stated that the Israeli occupation forces had violated the UN Charter by targeting civilian and residential areas, hospitals, non-military infrastructure, and certain nuclear facilities.
"The US aggression against the nuclear facilities in Qom, Arak, Natanz, and Isfahan constitutes a blatant violation of the UN Charter, the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and the resolutions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)", Araqchi added.
Araqchi further called on the UNSC to formally recognize the US and the Israeli occcupation forces, as the initiators of the act of aggression and to hold them responsible, including through the provision of compensation and reparations.
The ceasefire agreement between Iran and the Israeli forces came into effect on Tuesday, following an announcement by US President Donald Trump of a "complete and comprehensive agreement" to halt hostilities. (end)
