ISTANBUL, June 22 (KUNA) -- Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on Sunday discussed the Israeli occupation aggression on Iran and its impacts on regional peace and security.
This came during a meeting held by both ministers on the sidelines of the 51st meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, held in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
During the meeting, the Algerian foreign minister restated his country's commitment to promoting the political and peaceful approach based on international legitimacy rules and the UN Charter in order to spare the region further tensions and tragedies.
Algeria is currently a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC).
Iran's capital, Tehran and other cities have been under airstrikes by Israeli occupation warplanes since June 13, prompting Iran's strong response by firing missiles on Israeli occupation sites.
US President Donald Trump announced early Sunday that American forces had struck three nuclear sites in Iran, calling the operation "a spectacular military success" and warning that more attacks would be ordered if Tehran did not agree to a deal. (end)
