GENEVA, May 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN and International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Nasser Al-Hayen affirmed on Monday Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait's participation in reviewing the comprehensive report on human rights before the UN Human Rights Council shows Kuwait's firm commitments to relevant international charters.
Speaking to KUNA in a statement, Al-Hayen said this high-level participation mirrors Kuwait's absolute belief in the council's role and its key mechanism in boosting and protecting human rights globally.
Kuwait is fully committed to continuing positive and constructive collaboration with all UN organization and agencies, he stressed.
Reviewing the report is a fundamental opportunity to Kuwait to review its national efforts and tangible progress in enhancing human rights, in accordance with international standards, and its voluntary commitments in this field, he stated.
Kuwait's collaboration with international organizations comes as recognition of their pivotal role amid challenges facing the international community, mainly in light of critical conditions caused by the war on Gaza and humanitarian crises in the world that require urgent international coordination, he elaborated.
Kuwait is set to review its national report before the council on Wednesday, as part of the inclusive report for the fourth time; the country previuosly submitted it in 2010, 2015, 2020. (end)
