Info. Min.: "Expo 965" creates environment for innovation

KUWAIT, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Minster of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi said on Thursday the "Expo 965" exhibition creates atmosphere for innovation and creativity that bring authenticity and modernity together in a manner that goes in harmony with Kuwait's position.
This contributes to enhancing the national identity and cements "our" cultural values, Al-Mutairi added in a speech while opening the 6th edition of "Expo 965" exhibition on rare heritage and possessions.
He noted that the "outstanding event is an honorable window of Kuwait's authentic heritage and shows keenness of us all to protect traditional handcrafts and highlight the innovations of Kuwaiti craftsmen".
The event embodies a message of maintaining heritage and transferring it to the upcoming delegations, through embracing national talents and backing crafts' projects as well as spreading cultural and heritage awareness, the minister pointed out.
The expo coincides with National Days' celebrations, which make happiness and joy, and the country's hosting of "Kuwait as the Arab capital of media and culture for 2025", he elaborated.
He referred to high turnout at this expo, indicating this shows much attention of handicrafts and heritage, and eagerness of the Ministry of Information, and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) to create a stimulating environment to upgrade talents and skills.
In a speech delivered on behalf of "Expo 965" general coordinator and founder Mohammad Kamal, Dr. Ali Al-Nejada said Ibrahim Al-Baghli was chosen for this year's outstanding personality due to his contributions to maintaining Kuwait's heritage and handicrafts for years.
Al-Nejada said about 300 persons of the team, along brothers from GCC states, are partaking in this year's edition, in addition to the participation of about 750 others from national, voluntary and official bodies.
Dozens of dignitaries in different fields will be honored during this year's expo, which includes a large number of pavilions, he stated. (end) mdm.hm
