Cairo welcomes Yemeni peace agreement

CAIRO, July 23 (KUNA) -- Egypt Tuesday welcomed United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg's recent announcement of an agreement between the Yemeni government and Houthi about banks and airlines following months of exchanged escalation.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a press release that this agreement would hopefully be a springboard for a total settlement to the Yemeni crisis as per relevant resolutions with a view to fulfilling the Yemeni people's expectations.
It added that Egypt would weigh a possible direct flight between Cairo and Sanaa, with technical and logistic considerations being taken into account.
Earlier on Tuesday, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced that the Yemeni legitimate government and Houthis had reached an agreement over banks and airlines after months of escalations. (end) aff.mt
