Kuwait partakes in int'l gymnastics tourney in Egypt

CAIRO, June 9 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian capital witnessed on Friday launch of the fourth edition of the Pharaohs International Gymnastics Championship with participation of 28 countries including Kuwait.
Inaugural ceremony at Cairo International Stadium was attended by Fahad Al-Sola, the head of the Kuwaiti and Arab gymnastics federations, in addition to local, foreign and African sports leaders.
In remarks to KUNA, Al-Sola expressed hope that the Kuwaiti female athletes would make good scores in the competitions due to conclude Sunday.
Today's competitions involve three Kuwaiti athletes under 13 and tomorrow, ten professional peers will encounter players from the other participating countries.
He said that the Kuwaiti player Talia Bahbahani, aged under ten, had already come third in one of the held competitions.
Other participating Kuwaiti players are Maha Al-Sagr, competing in the general group, Nour Al-Rezaihan, in the juniors, Sara Al-Bannai, Raya Al-Gassar, Fozia Abdulkarim, Nabila Al-Kharafi, Lamar Al-Fodari, Amina Al-Kandari, Talia Bahbahani and Lian Bahbahani in the adults' category. (end) aff.rk
