Motorist whose car rammed into cyclists turns himself in

KUWAIT, May 26 (KUNA) -- The motorist whose car rammed into a group of cyclists on the seaside Arabian Gulf Road early on Friday turned himself in to the security authorities, the Ministry of Interior announced in a statement.
Standing legal procedures are being taken against the person, whose car rammed into the group of cyclists causing injuries.
Earlier, the MoI said the motorist fled the scene, while investigations were carried out, including an inspection of the cameras that recorded the accident. It also indicated that the cyclists of Asian nations were practicing their hobby without obtaining a permit, necessary to secure police escort for their safety.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said in a statement that 11 of the injured persons were whisked to the Amiri Hospital.
A MoH spokesperson said medics in ambulances rushed to the scene when the accident happened, indicating that the cyclists suffered from either fractures or cuts. Four of the injured were treated on the spot. (end) hms.mrf.rk
