GCC chief: Council keen on security, stability of Yemen

RIYADH, May 25 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) Secretary General Jassem Al-Budaiwi said on Thursday that the council was keen on the security, stability of Yemen, hoping that peace would prevail in the Arab country.
This came during Al-Budaiwi's reception of Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmad bin Mubarak at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh.
Al-Budaiwi affirmed the GCC strong stance in support of efforts to bring upon a peaceful resolve to the crisis in Yemen in line with the Gulf peace initiative, outcomes of the Yemeni national dialogue, and UNSC resolution 2216.
Al-Budaiwi indicated that the meeting with bin Mubarak had touched resolutions concerning Yemen, which came out of the 32nd Arab Summit recently held in Jeddah, adding that it was important to unify stance on safeguarding the unity and stability in Yemen.
He commanded efforts carried out by Saudi Arabia, the Yemeni government, and other parties in their efforts to end violence in Yemen.
During the meeting, Al-Budaiwi and bin Mubarak discussed efforts to revive the peace process in Yemen by Saudi Arabia and Oman, which focused on contacting all involved parties. (end) mdm.gta
