Kuwaiti official stresses importance of joint Arab action to fight terrorism

CAIRO, May 24 (KUNA) -- Head of the Foreign Media Sector at the Ministry of Information Dr. Hadi Al-Ajmi stressed Wednesday importance of unifying Arab efforts in various sectors, particularly the media, to fight terrorism.

This came in a statement by Dr. Al-Ajmi to (KUNA) on sidelines of the 25th meeting of the permanent expert group concerned with following up the role of Arab media in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism.
The meeting is chaired by Yemen, with participation of representatives of information ministries, media institutions in the Arab countries.
The meeting discussed the joint Arab strategy to fight terrorism. The strategy was prepared by Naif University for Security Sciences and approved by the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, he said.
It will be submitted to the meeting of Arab information ministers scheduled to be held next month in Morocco.
The expert group reached a unified vision that would "activate the role of media in confronting terrorism and initiating solutions, not only re-acting", Al-Ajmi noted.
He pointed out that there would be other Arabic initiatives and meetings to discuss the executive plan that would be presented by Naif University in two weeks.
Workshops to qualify media persons and cadres of human resources will be held soon to benefit from the Arab experts in directing young generation and families to be aware of the danger of terrorism, Dr. Al-Ajmi added.
He said the Kuwaiti media is "open to all world countries especially Arab nations and keen to participate in the Secretariat meeting to support efforts and exchange media views and expertise."(end) mfm.asm.nhq
