Israeli warplanes attack targets in Syria

AMMAN, April 2 (KUNA) -- Israeli warplanes fired a salvo of air-to-surface missiles around midnight targeting locations in the central Syrian region of Hama and its countryside, the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.
The warplanes flying over Lebanon carried out the attack at 12:35 (local time), SANA quoted a military source as saying.
Syrian defenses confronted the warplanes and knocked out some of the unleashed rockets, SANA said, adding that five Syrian military personnel were wounded and some material damage was inflicted in the strike.
The Israeli air forces have been repeatedly attacking targets in Syria since 2011. On March 12, the fighter jets hit targets in in the coastal city Tartous and the central city Hama, wounding three Syrian military personnel. (end) ab.rk
