KUWAIT, Jan 26 (KUNA) --

1961 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed the publication law ensuring freedom of publishing.
1965 -- The National Assembly unanimously voted against a bill granting mega foreign oil companies proceeds much higher than they are entitled to.
1985 -- The Foreign Ministry inked an accord to establish the Arab Center for Composition and Translation of Medical Sciences in Kuwait.
1999 -- The tugboat "Bayan" for Kuwait Oil Company sank after ramming into the pier at Al-Ahmadi port. Losses have been estimated at KD three million (USD 9.9 million).
2011 -- The National Assembly approved a bill regarding women civil and social rights.
2018 -- The permanent Kuwaiti mission at the United Nations handed over Kuwait's contribution, some USD 2.4 million, to a number of UN programs, funds and agencies.
2022 -- The National Assembly granted confidence to Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Sabah following a grilling presented by MP Hamdan Al-Azmi. Twenty three MPs rejected a no-confidence motion against 18 who supported it. (end) bs
