KUWAIT, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- Argentine beat The Netherlands on penalties Friday to qualify for the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Nahuel Molina scored the opener for Argentine in the 35th minute and the team superstar Lionel Messi doubled the advantage in the 73rd minute.
But, The Netherlands did not give up and continued their pressure until the second substitute Wout Weghorst led a sensational comeback by scoring twice: the opener in the 83rd minute and the equalizer in the 11th minute of the second-half stoppage time.
The game ended in 2-2 draw and the teams went to extra time but there was no more goals.
In the penalty shootout, the Dutch team missed two penalties while Argentinian team missed only one to win the match 4-3.
Argentine will play against Croatia in the semi-finals. (end)
