Malaysia's King approves the newly appointed PM Anwar Ibrahim

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- The Malaysian Royal Palace announced on Thursday King Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah's approval of the newly appointed Prime Minister of the country, head of The Alliance of Hope Anwar Ibrahim, after four days of the political crisis that followed the parliamentary elections held last week, resulting in a suspended Parliament.
The Royal Palace added in a statement today that appointing Ibrahim came after the King met a number of senior political leaders, as well as rulers and sultans of the nine Malay states.
Appointing Ibrahim as the premier comes in accordance with the power given to the King by articles number 40/2-A, and 43/2-A of the country's constitution.
The King called on all of the parliament members from the government and the opposition to unite for the favour of their own nation, and not put the burden of the endless political crises on the people, as Malaysia needs a stable cabinet focusing on the country's economy.
The Malaysian public elections were carried out last Saturday, as no political party gained the simple majority by 111 sears out of 222 ones in the Parliament, which would allow in forming the upcoming government, which led to a political crisis that required the interference of the King.
The Alliance of Hope political led by Anwar Ibrahim won 82 seats in the elections, followed by the National Alliance led by former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin by 73 seats, as both parties claimed owning the simple majority of the Parliament through other alliances that they did not prove.
