Pakistan, Saudi Arabia eye broader multispectral partnership

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Pakistan and Saudi Arabia express keenness to expand multispectral partnerships during a meeting between the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and Saudi Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Waleed ElKhereiji on the sidelines of the 9th Global Forum of UN Alliance of Civilizations in Morocco.
According to the Pakistan Foreign Office, the two sides besides exchanging views on important issues reaffirmed 'fraternal Pakistan-Saudi ties and expressed keenness to expand multispectral partnerships. Earlier, while addressing the 9th Global Forum, Khar has stressed the importance of continued inter-civilizational and inter-faith dialogue to promote peaceful coexistence and harmony.
The Minister highlighted Pakistan's perspective and concerns about the growing problem of religious intolerance, discrimination, Islamophobia and violence worldwide. She particularly drew attention towards the state-driven discrimination, hostility and phobia directed against Muslims and Islam, and the ensuing climate of impunity for such heinous acts.
Khar urged the international community and the United Nations to formulate an action plan to address the insidious phenomenon of Islamophobia. (end) sbk.ibi
