European Parliament declares Russia to be a state sponsor of terrorism

BRUSSELS, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- The European Parliament Wednesday adopted a resolution declaring Russia to be "a state sponsor of terrorism" due to its war against Ukraine.
The resolution was adopted by 494 against 58 and 44 abstentions.
The resolution however clarifies that as the EU currently cannot officially designate states as sponsors of terrorism, the EP called on the EU and it's member states to put in place the proper legal framework and consider to add Russia to the list.
The resolution called on the Council of the EU to include the Russian paramilitary organisation the "Wagner Group and other Russian-funded arms arms groups and militias on the EU' a terrorist list. (end) nk.ibi
