Iraq to redeploy forces along Kurdistan borders with Iran, Turkey

BAGHDAD, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Iraq said on Wednesday it would redeploy forces on the borders separating its Kurdistan region from Iran and Turkey in a bid to prevent security breaches there.
The decision comes after a ministerial national security meeting, headed by Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani, according to a Cabinet statement.
The prime minister said the talks discussed the "Iranian and Turkish attacks and violations on the Iraqi borders and the bombing that affected a number of areas in the Iraqi Kurdistan region," which he said, "caused intimidation and harm to people and property." Iranian and Turkish rocket and aerial attacks on sites in Iraqi Kurdistan have increased under the pretext of the presence of groups and parties opposing them within the region. (end) ahh.sd
