Magnitude-5.9 earthquake hits NW Turkiye, 35 injured - Health Min.

ISTANBUL, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- A powerful earthquake rocked Turkiye' s northwestern Duzce province early Wednesday, leaving 35 people injured in the region, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Wednesday.
A total of 35 people were injured in Duzce, while other injuries were reported in Istanbul, Sakarya, Bolu, and Zonguldak provinces, the minister said on Twitter.
He added that the ministry has sent medical teams to the province.
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake jolted northwestern Duzce and was centered in Golyaka District, according to Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The quake occurred at a depth of 6.81 kilometers (4.2 miles), it said, adding that it was felt in Istanbul and other provinces, including northwestern Bolu, Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bursa, Bilecik, and western Izmir and Kutahya provinces, as well as the capital Ankara. (end) ta.mt
