HH Amir dissolves Parliament due to deteriorating conditions

KUWAIT, Dec 6 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued a decree on Tuesday dissolving the National Assembly (Parliament), stating that deteriorating conditions in the country were the motive for his decision.

HH the Amir, in his decree, said his decision was based on Provision 107 of the National Constitution.
"Due to the deteriorating conditions that led to obstruction of process of achievements and threatened the country's higher interests, it became necessary to resort to the people to select their representatives, overcome existing obstacles and realize national interests," HH the Amir stated.
HH Sheikh Sabah indicated that he had decided to issue the decree of dissolving the parliament after presentation by the prime minister and approval of the cabinet.
The prime minister, the cabinet, the ministers and any other relevant parties are advised to implement this decree as of the date of its issuance. It should also be published in the official gazette, the Amiri Decree stated.
The Amir's dissolution of the parliament came following recent resignation of the prime minister, Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who complained to His Highness about enormous obstacles he had to face -- placed by some MPs -- during his tenure.
Sheikh Nasser was succeeded by Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sahah. (end)
