KUWAIT, May 18 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser
Al-Mohammad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Tuesday paid an inspection tour of Failaka
Island, which is 20 km off the coast of Kuwait City in the Arabian Gulf.
He was accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense
Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs and
Minister of Justice, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Rashid Al-Hammad and several
other ministers, governors and officials.
During his short stay in the Kuwaiti tourist island, HH the premier met a
Kuwaiti municipal team charged with developing Failaka Island on their
rehabilitation blueprint.
He was briefed by the team on all details bearing on the plan as the island
development project will be carried out by the private sector.
Afterwards, HH the premier toured key historical and archaeological sites
and ancient mosques at Failaka Island.
He then took a helicopter tour of the northern area, including existing
projects at Boubyan Island, Subiya and Doha areas. (end)
