KUWAIT, Sept 28 (KUNA) --
1980 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree regarding general mobilization in the case of tension in international relations, threats of war or a conflict. The decree expired once the status of the conflict ended.
1990 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held talks with US President George Bush at the White House, the first meeting since Iraq invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990.
1992 -- Ministry of Commerce and Industry opened Kuwait stock exchange which stopped trading for two years because of the Iraqi invasion.
2009 -- A delegation of female Kuwaiti parliament members - Dr. Maasouma Al-Mubarak and Dr. Aseel Al-Awadhi - participated in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
2016 -- Ministry of Health began implementing health insurance for 117,000 retirees, each enjoying a coverage of 17,000 Kuwaiti Dinars (KD) (USD 51,000).
2017 -- Saud Al-Harbi, of Kuwait, was named Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
2021 -- Dasman Diabetes Institute said it won the UN award for the prevention of non-communicable diseases of the year 2020. (end) bs
