KUWAIT, Jan 27 (KUNA)

1971 -- The Bank of Kuwait and the Middle East is established with a capital amounting to more than KD 70 million (USD 231 million).
2012 -- Kuwait inks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) an agreement whereby the Gulf state pledges a USD 10 million worth of contribution to the agency to build a nuclear fuel bank.
2013 -- Kuwait International Petroleum Company and its partners ink with an international consortium a deal for building a complex including an oil refinery and a petrochemical plant in northern Vietnam at a cost of USD nine billion.
2018 -- Kuwait contributes with USD 2.4 million to a number of UN programs, funds and agencies.
2020 -- The 19th Asian handball tournament for qualifying to the world cup finals concludes in Kuwait with Qatar beating South Korea 33-21.
2002 -- Former member of the Kuwaiti parliament (officially the National Assembly) dies at the age of 74. (end) rk
