1961 -- Iraqi ruler Abdulkarim Qassem, during a news conference at headquarters of the Iraqi defense ministry, unveils colonial intentions and policy of blackmail against the State of Kuwait, alleging that Kuwait was part of Iraq. The Kuwaiti government issued a statement affirming its sovereignty and determination to defend its territory, noting all peace-loving nations would back its endeavor to preserve independence of the homeland.
1973 -- Late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues a law on preserving oil resources and organizing relations between the government and oil companies.
1980 -- An Amiri decree was issued establishing a KD-six-million pharmaceutical industries company.
1981 -- Five explosions rocked interior security buildings, a number of touristic sites and a power station. There were no injuries.
1982-- Kuwait national football team loses against England 0-1 at World Cup in Spain.
1990 -- Kuwaiti businessman Khaled Al-Muttawa passes away at the age of 78, he was head of the orphans directory, member of the municipal council, and one of the Gulf Bank founders.
1992 -- An explosive device went off near the houses of Sheikh Mubarak Sabah Al-Nasser and Kuwaiti medical college professor, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, killing an Iranian gardener at Al-Sabah's house.
2000 -- Kuwait witnesses its worst oil catastrophe as a gas leakage caused a massive blast in the oil refinery of Al-Ahmadi, killing five people and injuring 50 others.
2001 -- The National Assembly unanimously approves a draft law revoking articles of a decree by law that organizes compulsory military conscription.
2007 -- The National Assembly discusses a grilling motion against oil minister Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, filed by MPs Abdullah Al-Roumi, Adel Al-Saraawi and Musallam Al-Barrak, accusing him of failure to uphold duties and abuse of power, as well as trying to affect public opinion on an ongoing case involving embezzlement of state funds.
2016 - Kuwait's Yousef Al-Abdulrazaq wins World Jet ski Championship in Spain.
2019 -- Morgan Stanley Capital International Corporation for the European, Australian and Far East Markets announces the promotion of Kuwait Boursa among the emerging markets. (end) aa
