KUWAIT, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- 1966 -- Kuwait Metal Pipe Industries company is established with a KD 750,000 (USD 2.4 million) capital for producing, importing, maintaining, transporting and installing various types of pipes.
1990 -- Iraqi regime's forces besiege buildings of embassies in Kuwait in a bid to coerce the diplomatic missions to shut down and transfer their offices to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
1991 -- The (late) Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah sets alight flame of Kuwait Flag marking first academic year after liberating the country from claws of the blatant Iraqi occupation. He stated, during a ceremony at Bayan Palace, "Iraq's tyrant has sought to wipe out everything in Kuwait including educational institutions. Today, Kuwait is gradually restoring normal life after studies have stopped at all schools throughout the occupation period where schools have been turned into prisons and detention centers." 2009 -- The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) declares that a technical malfunction at Mishref sewage station has resulted in stoppage of the pumping units that have been also swamped with water, amid gas emissions.
2015 -- Former member of the National Assembly (Parliament), Falah Al-Hajraf, passes away at 93 years of age. (end) rk
