1961 -- Iraqi ruler Abdulkarim Qassem launched a ferocious campaign against Britain, describing the 1899 treaty between Kuwait and Britain as fake.
1964 -- Polls were held for the first directly elected Municipal Council. Mohammad Al-Adsani was elected chairman, and the council's term continued to May 14, 1966.
1964 -- Kuwait Journalists Association (KJA) was established.
1975 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues a law endorsing the agreement for establishing the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
