KUWAIT, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- 1977 -- The second ground station of the satellite communication network opened in Umm Al-Aish.
1987 -- Late Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated Yousef Al-Marzouq and Lulwa Al-Nassar Islamic Medical Center for herbal treatment.
1991 -- Iraqi invasion forces destroys Kuwaiti oil fields in a attempt to distrupt the international coalitions forces during their enterance.
2004 -- The national handball team wins the 11th Asian Tournament after beating Japan.
2005 -- Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mansour begins work as the Arab League assistant secretary general for auditing, the first Kuwaiti to occupy such a leading post in the Arab organization.
2006 -- The national handball team was crowned Asian champion for the fourth time.
2007 -- The Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) marine reserve was inaugurated.
2008 -- Cabinet approved salary increase by KD 120 for Kuwaiti public and private sector employees, military service members, retirees, and social welfare benefactors.
