KUWAIT, Jan 21 (KUNA) --

1915 -- The first post-office in Kuwait was inaugurated at the Dixon House.
1980 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed decree No. 6/1980 for establishing Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC). As a state public enterprise KPC is assigned the role of the production of all petroleum and petrochemicals in and outside of Kuwait.
1992 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed an Amiri decree assigning Yousif Mohammad Al-Sumait as Chairman and Director General of Kuwait News Agency, KUNA. Al-Sumait assumes the role until being appointed Information Minister six years later.
2009 -- Qadsia SC claimed Kuwait's football premier league title for the second time in a row, marking the end of the season with a 1-0 defeat of Kazma.
2012 -- Former Kuwaiti information and oil minister, and Kuwait's Ambassador to the US from 1981 to 1992, Sheikh Saud Nasser Al-Sabah passed away at the age of 68. He is well-remembered for his leadership and partnership with the coalition countries that participated in Kuwait's liberation during the hardship endured by Kuwait following the 1990 invasion and occupation of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein's forces.
2014 -- National Assembly agreed on electronic transaction draft law and referred it to cabinet for approval. It also agreed on draft law to transform Kuwait Airways into joint stock company, referred bill to cabinet for approval.
2014 -- Kuwait Oil Company signed USD 275 million agreement with Saudi firm to use electromagnetic technology in oil excavation operations in Kuwait. (end) gta
