KUWAIT, Jan 21 (KUNA) --

1915 -- The first post-office in Kuwait is inaugurated at the Dickson House, the residence of the British Political Agent H. R. P. Dickson.

1980 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signs decree to establish Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), as a state public enterprise. KPC is assigned with the production of all petroleum and petrochemicals in and outside of Kuwait.

1992 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signs an Amiri decree assigning Yousef Mohammad Al-Sumait as Chairman and Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). Al-Sumait assumes the role until being appointed Information Minister six years later.

2009 -- Qadsia SC claims Kuwait's football premier league for the second time in a row, marking the end of the season with a 1-0 win over Kazma.

2012 -- The demise of former oil and information minister Sheikh Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah at the age of 68. Sheikh Saud headed the Information Ministry in 1992 and also the Ministry of Oil in 1998. He, as the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Washington, was one of the important Kuwaiti figures to contribute to the liberation Kuwait in 1991 from the Iraqi aggression of 1990.

2013 -- Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah affirms in his speech at the third Arab economic development summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, full support of them Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz's initiative to increase the Arab institutional capital to contribute to development.

2014 -- Kuwait Oil Company signs USD 275 million agreement with Saudi Al-Khareef firm to use electromagnetic technology in oil excavation operations in Kuwait. (end) gta
