KUWAIT, June 20 (KUNA) --

1928 -- Kuwait Magazine was published. Abdulaziz Al-Rushaid was chief editor of the monthly magazine, which consisted of religious, historic, literature and linguistic articles. The magazine stopped publication in March 1930.
1955 -- Abdullah Al-Mulla Saleh, the government's secretary, passed away. He was Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's representative to Kuwait Oil Company in 1934.
1961 -- Iraq's ruler Abdulkareem Qassem sent a cable to Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah containing allegation of "Iraq's historic demands in Kuwait," without mentioning the Independence of State of Kuwait.
1962 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah opened Al-Sabah Hospital, the first and largest health project at that time. It took two years to build and equip the hospital, which had 16 doctors and 145 nurses at its inauguration. The hospital contained 585 beds.
1985 -- Iran seized Al-Muharraq, a Kuwaiti cargo ship, due to Kuwait's position regarding the Iraq-Iran war.
1990 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree approving formation of the country's 14th government, which consisted of 22 ministers, the largest in history. This government lasted until 1991.
1998 -- Kuwait National Assembly approved a bill that would publish names of MPs who missed the sessions in newspapers. The bill was approved by 25 MPs and opposed by one. Eight MPs abstained.
2004 -- The Public Authority for Civil Information launched an one-line ID renewal service.
2010 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree establishing a shareholding company with a mandate of building and operating power and water desalination stations.
2010 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree to establish at least one shareholding company to build, operate and maintain residential cities for workers nationwide.
2011 -- A. T. Kearney consultations company said Kuwait was the fifth most lucrative retail markets around the world.
2011 -- Kuwait Oil Tankers Company received Al-Salmi, a giant crude oil tanker with 102 million barrels capacity, from South Korea.
2012 -- Kuwait Constitutional Court annuled a decree that called for the 2012 parliamentary elections. The ruling reinstated the 2009 parliament.
2013 -- Kuwait government approved a draft decree calling on eligible voters for legislative elections on July 25, 2013. (end) bs
